Tringa is IMAS EOD qualified,
so while she is in a management role,
she knows a thing or two about IMAS.
In what is sometimes a complex industry, only a few names stand out as clearly as Praedium Consulting Malta’s (PCM’s) MAT Kosovo (MK) as a recognised training provider. As the flagship training venue of the PCM Group, MK has not only established itself as a global brand and benchmark, with year-round scheduled IMAS-compliant training delivery, but it also embodies a rare blend of adaptability, credibility, and learning ethics that truly sets it apart. The company’s desire to provide not only a training standard for the industry but also the training clients need, as opposed to off the shelf training products, is a unique competency.
Increasingly, clearance organisations depend on a third party to deliver training of their personnel, largely this is due to their time and resources when planning, preparing, and conducting their operations. The training side is often time-consuming, and building the training programme, having the resources available, and employing the right personnel for its delivery are often outweighed by the ease of outsourcing the training to a company which specializes in training delivery at the highest level. Ultimately to a provider they can trust!
The gold standard for training in the civilian, humanitarian, and development sectors globally
A Legacy of Training Excellence
With a legacy spanning over 25 years, MK has trained thousands of deminers from over 70 countries in 7 languages across more than 280 distinct projects, more than 50 of which have supported government agencies such as Law Enforcement, the Military, UN Agencies, supporting Non-Governmental Agencies, and Commercial Companies. These are not merely numbers; they stand as evidence of a training institution that thrives on operational diversity, linguistic flexibility, strategic partnership, and a rare vision for training excellence.
At its core, PCM’s MK has demonstrated how rigorous adherence to IMAS does not come at a cost of agility or context-specific relevance. Those who graduate from MK’s courses carry certifications with global recognition, but more importantly, they walk away with real-world adaptability that ultimately saves lives in some of the world’s most dangerous and unforgiving environments.
We don’t just deliver training — we deliver capability and credibility through continual change
The development of MK throughout a quarter of a century has been deliberate and strategic. What began with a modest facility and just 12 catered beds has transformed into a world-class establishment now capable of running three courses in parallel, with 46 catered beds on site (and additional off-site accommodation when required), while delivering over 120 meals per day.
The infrastructure is designed to support simultaneous multi-lingual, multi-level training with full life support. Our on-site training stances offer seamless transition from theoretical training to practical demonstrations and practice by our clients.
The unique capability we provide our clientele to perform live demolitions on live fuzed munitions on each and every course we deliver, sets us apart from our competitors, this through our exclusive arrangement with the Poliex facility in Montenegro, ensuring our students are assessed and qualify on live demolitions on live targets.
It’s worth noting that PCM’s MK never aimed to be the world’s foremost and largest IMAS compliant training venue, only the best. Unlike organisations that build training facilities for capital or visibility, PCM Group’s philosophy has always been that infrastructure should support delivery, not define it.
Key to MK’s success as a training delivery specialist is MK’s staff: from the guard force, hygiene team, and catering staff to the administrative team, the training support team, and instructors. With over 30 full-time personnel working year-round, this dedicated team forms the core of MK's training operation.
MAT Kosovo’s facility is purpose built to deliver safe, effective, and immersive training. The construction of additional infrastructure on the original footprint ensures numerous training stances for practical on-site exercises, a cornerstone of our training delivery. To better illustrate our capacity and capability, key differentiators include:
From the moment our clients arrive at the airport, we greet them and provide transfers to the MK Training Center (TC), located approximately 80km west in the picturesque city of Peja. Upon arrival at the MK TC, clients receive a welcome meal and are shown to their accommodation - basic but clean, typically with two sharing a room (single rooms available when possible, depending on the school's occupancy at the time). Throughout their stay, clients enjoy three varied, wholesome meals daily, along with on-demand laundry services and on-site medical support. Our comprehensive package includes in-country transportation, all training materials, and insurance coverage for demolition range days. Fees also encompass certification, a unique student logbook and notebook pack, qualification card, and level-specific qualification badge. The MK TC team handles absolutely everything, there are no hidden costs, thus ensuring that students focus solely on learning.

And much more besides, all this equipment is available on every course where appropriate and is maintained and stored meticulously to ensure its serviceability and readiness for use.
Clients can specify which equipment they prefer to use, which best suits their region and their training needs. Proof, if it were needed, that MK always goes the extra mile to ensure that clients’ needs are met and expectations are fulfilled.
MK is not exclusive to any one manufacturer or supplier of equipment, as they understand the importance of remaining impartial and providing the equipment for training which clients use or intend to use.
World-class, cost-effective permanent facilities – including training grounds, training items, live demolition ranges and access to live munitions, explosives and accessories
When it comes to training delivery and clients’ choice of when and where they can attend training, it really is down to the individual and their own preference – specifically, when they can attend one of MK’s scheduled pay-per-seat courses. For example, if someone were to visit the website page https://www.pcm-erw.com/course-dates-pre-registration/, they would see scheduled course dates through to the end of December 2026.
The process of inquiring about or booking a course could not be easier: by following the steps on the website and then complying with the course attendance pre-requisites once contact is made with MK’s course booking team. A course is then selected, a deposit made, and a place firmly set for the individual to attend the right course for them.
MK has the capacity and capability to meet clients’ needs and expectations in terms of when the client wants the training to take place, fitting their own operational requirements. It really is as simple as the client requesting training for their staff on dates that align with their plans, and MK’s ability to run three courses in parallel enables bespoke client courses to take place throughout the year.
Those individuals or clients whose personnel need a visa to visit Kosovo and Montenegro can rely on MK to do its utmost to support the visa application process from start to finish. What MK does ask, however, is that at least two months are given prior to the scheduled course start date to allow sufficient time for the visa(s) to be issued and expectations to be met.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal training cannot be done online; it cannot be done, in MK’s view, using simulation or indeed solely using inert objects in place of live munitions. It is, after all, a serious business, and MK students therefore practice live demolitions on live fuzed items of ordnance of a type relevant to the level of training each course provides. An electric detonator under a sandbag, or the high order destruction of an inert training aid, is not acceptable when it comes to MK training.
Great effort has been made to ensure MK’s exclusive access and use of the Poliex facility in Montenegro, a two-hour door-to-door road trip from Peja. This is where stock is kept of stored ordnance natures of varying type and diameter. The Poliex site is secure, and the explosives and accessories are manufactured on site, with a polygon with a NEQ of 50KG. This resource is truly unique in the industry.
This exclusive access and use of the Poliex facility in Montenegro allows the students to prepare and conduct live disposal on live fuzed munitions themselves, in the conduct of both high (HOT) and low order (LOT) techniques. Students are encouraged to improvise low order systems, having first been shown how to do so at the MK Training Centre in dry conditions. The live preparation of charges is always conducted under strict supervision. World-leading manufacturers’ systems are also available during the live demolitions from suppliers such as Alford Technologies, so that students can compare LOT systems and their effectiveness—a rarity in the industry.
MK takes its role and responsibility in training, in strict adherence to IMAS competencies, seriously. There is an obligation to ensure each graduate is assessed in the conduct of live disposal of live fuzed items as a critical component of their journey to graduation as IMAS EOD operators.
One aspect of MK’s service to its clients is the ability to mobilise and deploy training cadres to clients’ country locations if they cannot come to the fixed training establishment. In recent years, this has seen MK cadres deploying to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. MK understands that each client has training needs and restrictions, which means MK must be able to deploy and train offsite from its own facility, where the client also needs to take responsibility in assisting with providing the training infrastructure and equipment that is vital to any training course’s successful outcome.
Being adaptable and flexible is a critical aspect when meeting client needs and expectations, without compromising training delivery and its quality.
Deployable training cadres available for in-country client training
With thousands of trainees conducting live demolitions, hundreds of thousands of miles of road journeys to and from the remote training areas and ranges, and care in the training facility. MK also deploys cadres to conflict areas for months at a time delivering training to the client’s location/s. MK is rightly proud of PCM and MK’s flawless safety record, with no accidents or incidents whatsoever in 25 years of operations globally.
A 100% safety record, unique in our industry
Being technically skilled doesn't automatically mean being able to deliver training effectively. That's why MK treats training design as its own discipline. MK takes the time to develop, review, and refine every course, continually updating its IMAS-compliant courses to meet the regular Test & Evaluation Protocols. This builds progression into the structure, and importantly PCM & MK choose our SME Instructors and training support staff not just for their operational backgrounds, but for their ability to communicate, support, and deliver training to the highest standards.
It's easy to underestimate how much structure is needed in support of training delivery, often with multiple courses being delivered in parallel. But over time and through trial and error the MK training establishment has found that investing in the process pays off, both for those students that graduate with us and importantly and ultimately for the teams they go on to support operationally.
PCM & MK doesn't treat IMAS as a rigid rulebook, it is a standard, a guideline which should be adhered to and exceeded where possible. For us it is a critical foundation on which training delivery is shared and that allows cooperation and long-term development. The MK TC develops its training on that basis, but also makes space for national priorities, real-world risks, and what people actually need, opposed to what they don’t need, in an ever-evolving industry.
That balance of continual refinement and improvement has helped the MK TC to deliver programmes that are both internationally recognised and operationally relevant, and it's one of the reasons that MK is trusted to train across the globe.
MK’s reputation and track record are second to none, hard won and warranted. Having trained thousands of operators from over 70 different countries, in several languages including Arabic and Ukrainian, MK has delivered 280 distinct donor/client projects (96 in the last three years alone).
Trained 1000s of EOD and IEDD operators, quality managers, and ammunition techs from over 70 countries
Strong safety record and global credibility
All-inclusive residential facilities
Customizable course dates and content

As the sector evolves, PCM & MKs strategic role as a training provider remains to provide the very best standard of training focusing on the need of the industry as it chances and moves with the times. Let’s not forget the Humanitarian Industry as it is, is no more than 35 years old, that’s relatively young as an industry and the IMAS standard has developed over this period to make the industry so much safer and those within it more competent.
PCM & MK are here to deliver adaptable, high-quality, IMAS-compliant training that puts those at the sharp end of things very much as a priority.
Ben Remfrey MBE, PCM’s Managing Director concludes – “What sets PCM & MK apart, in our view, is not just our infrastructure, our extensive unmatched equipment inventory, the impressive alumni network, or its IMAS-compliant credentials. It is its unwavering commitment to doing the right thing the right way.
With a philosophy that places beneficiaries first, training built on universal principles, and operations designed for cost-efficiency and scalability, PCM & MK does not just deliver training, it delivers capability, credibility, and all of this through continual change.”
For the next generation of industry professionals, the choice is clear: those considering training today should train where the world’s best operators prepare, and that is to train with PCM & MK.
