The Bomb Disposal Charity
Felix Fund is a charity dedicated to supporting UK bomb disposal and search personnel, along with their families. Founded in 2011, the charity emerged from the need to provide specialised assistance to those who face the unique and intense challenges associated with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Search duties.
Felix Fund's mission is to provide comprehensive support across the three strands of Health & Wellbeing, Financial Assistance and Memorial Care.
Our flagship Health & Wellbeing program is the Dashboard Course, which offers preventative stress training based on mindfulness techniques. This course is designed to help EOD and Search personnel recognise early signs of stress and develop strategies to manage it effectively. The Dashboard Course is based on a residential therapeutic break with activities that promote relaxation, mental clarity, and overall well-being. A version of the course has also been extended to spouses and partners of those that serve within the community.
We have also recently launched an information campaign, exposing the potentially higher prevalence of Blader Cancer, in people who have been repeatedly exposed to uncontained explosives, especially in those under the age of 70. The key message being if you see blood in your urine, see your doctor and ensure you tell them about the potential link between Explosive Exposure and Bladder Cancer. The charity provides financial assistance to those in need, ensuring that both serving and retired personnel, as well as their families, receive the necessary support. We also provided funding to support those children in higher education who have lost an EOD&S parent on operations.
