One of the most significant advantages of the Spill-CAT system is its exceptionally low powder-to-agent weight ratio. While legacy decontamination systems often require up to ten times the volume of the agent being neutralized, Spill-CAT dramatically reduces the logistical burden.POLYCAT has engineered specific formulations tailored to distinct molecular threats:
V-Series Nerve Agents (VMx): Formulated for VX, A230, and A234. Operates at a remarkable 2:1 ratio (2 kg of powder neutralizes 1 kg of agent).
Mustard / Blister Agents (MMx): Formulated for Sulfur Mustard (HD), Lewisite (L1, L), and mixtures (YA). Operates at a 2:1 ratio.
G-Series Nerve Agents (GMx): Formulated for Tabun (GA), Sarin (GB), and Soman (GD). Operates at a 3:1 ratio.
Universal (UMx): A broadband formulation designed for use when the specific chemical threat is unknown or cannot be immediately identified, operating safely at a 4:1 ratio.
These dry formulations are inherently stable, meaning they suffer no degradation in performance over long-term storage, ensuring constant operational readiness in warehouses or forward operating bases.
Scalable Deployment: From Surface Decon to Munition Destruction
POLYCAT has designed its delivery mechanisms to scale from rapid surface decontamination up to the tactical destruction of bulk chemical munitions.
Rapid Response & Surface Decontamination
For immediate spills and vehicle decontamination, the powder is housed in portable deployment systems like the Polycat Dry Shaker and the pressurized Dry Spray. These allow operators to cover affected areas in seconds, absorbing free-standing CWA and neutralizing it in place with minimal required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Munitions and The "Blackdog" System
For larger threats, POLYCAT has developed ruggedized containment systems known as the Kill Bag and Kill Drum. The Kill Bag, for example, is a man-portable solution capable of safely receiving and neutralizing the payload of a 155mm chemical munition (up to 6 kilograms of agent).
This technology has garnered significant attention from the highest levels of military R&D. POLYCAT has collaborated with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC) to integrate their neutralization technology with the U.S. Army's "Viper" munition-drilling tool. Operating in tandem, the Viper drills into a recovered munition and drains the agent directly into POLYCAT’s Kill Bag. Known jointly as the Blackdog system, this combined capability can fit inside a single backpack. It allows warfighters to hike to a remote, unexploded chemical munition, drill it, drain it, and have the agent actively neutralizing in a sealed bag within an hour—allowing the unit to securely transport the neutralized threat in the back of a standard tactical vehicle.
Industrial and Bulk Scale
For massive industrial spills or demilitarization operations, POLYCAT offers Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) systems and Transport Drums pre-lined with Spill-CAT powder, facilitating the safe transport of leaking munitions or the rapid detoxification of large-volume storage failures.
